There’s just something about lying, that God absolutely despises. It is anti-God. Because God is Truth, Lying is everything He is not – and everything the devil is. That’s why he detests it.
God is truth: He cannot lie Deuteronomy 32:4 - He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are righteousness: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
John 14:6 - Jesus answered, I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Numbers 23:19 - God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?
I John 1:5 - This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
I Samuel 15:29 - And also the Glory of Israel will not lie nor repent; for he is not a man, that he should repent.
Hebrews 6:18 - God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.

I John 2:21 - I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it and because no lie comes from the truth.
Psalms 31:5 - Into your hands I commit my spirit; deliver me, LORD, God of truth.
The Devil is a liar and the Father of Lies. Lies and lying come from him, not God. John 8:44 - You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Acts 5:23 - But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit…

Proverbs 12:22 - Lying lips are abomination to the LORD; but they that deal truly are his delight. (KJV)
Proverbs 3:32 - for the LORD detests a perverse man, but takes the upright into his confidence.
Proverbs 6:16-19 - There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a man who sows discord among brothers.
Can you love God, and still tell lies, or mislead, or deceive a little? Proverbs 14:2 - He whose walk is upright fears the LORD, but he whose ways are devious despises him.
If you have a habit of lying, even little white lies. If you deceive others, allowing people to believe something that is not true, or not the whole truth, whether to get what you want, or avoid consequence of your actions. God’s Word says: You do not love God, you despise him (you place little value on what he says).
I John 1:6 - If we say we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not practice the truth.
I John 2:21 - I have not written to you because you don’t know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
Can you be Righteous and tell lies? Proverbs 13:5 - The righteous hate lies, but the wicked make themselves a stench and bring shame on themselves. Proverbs 12:17 - He that speaks truth, shows forth righteousness: but a false witness tells lies.
I John 3:6-10 - No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. Dear children, do not let anyone deceive you. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. This is how we can tell who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.
If you Lie you do not know the Lord. Jeremiah 9:3 - My people bend their tongues like bows to shoot out lies. They refuse to stand up for the truth. They go from sin to sin, they do not know me, says the LORD.

Proverbs 15:4 - A soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.
James 3:6 - The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell… but the tongue no one can tame, it is restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men who are made in the image of God, my friends, this should not be. And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!
Not everyone likes the truth. But God honors it. Galatians 4:16 - Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
If you are led by the Spirit, you will tell the truth and walk in it. John 16:13 - But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
If you are not quick to repent and obey, you will become a liar. Jeremiah 7:28 - Say to them, ‘This is the nation whose people will not obey the LORD their God and who refuse to be taught. Truth has vanished from among them, it is no longer heard on their lips.
If you struggle with lying, it could be a symptom of another problem. It could be a "slow to repent & turn" issue - you’re just not an obeyer. So now, truth has vanished from you - you lie habitually.
The Cost of Lying (Not 100% truthful - you will deceive to get your way or avoid consequences of your actions)
If lying is your habit, you will never find good, you will always find yourself getting into trouble. Proverbs 17:20 - The one who has a perverse heart does not find good, and the one who is deceitful in speechfalls into trouble.

Liars are easily deceived themselves. 2 Thessalonians 2:10,11 - and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore, God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false.
I Kings 22:19-23 - Micaiah continued, “Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on this throne with all the multitudes of heaven standing around him on his right and on his left. And the LORD said, ‘Who will entice Ahab into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there? “One suggested this, and another that. Finally a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD and said, ‘I will entice him,’ By what means?’ the LORD asked. ‘”I will go out and be a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,’ he said. ‘”You will succeed in enticing him,’ said the LORD. ‘ Go and do it.’ “So now the LORD has put a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all these prophets of yours. The LORD has decreed disaster for you.”
Proverbs 17:4 - A wicked person listens to deceitful lips; a liar pays attention to a slanderous tongue.
Liars Separate themselves from God. He doesn’t hear their prayers and they can’t hear his voice – no matter how much they seek him.
Isaiah 59:2 - But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. For your hands are stained with blood, your fingers with guilt. Your lips have spoken falsely, and your tongue mutters wicked things.
Jeremiah 9:5 - Friend deceives friend, and no one speaks the truth. They have taught their tongues to lie; they weary themselves with sinning. You live in the midst of deception; in their deceit they refuse to acknowledge me,” declares the LORD. Therefore the LORD who rules over all says, “I will now melt them in the fires of affliction and test them. The wickedness of my people has left me no choice. What else can I do?"

Liars have NO CLAIM to God’s promises. Psalms 50:16,19 But to the wicked person, God says: “What right have you to recite my statutes or take my covenant or speak about my covenant with your lips? Your mouth is full of wickedness, and your tongue is full of lies. (your tongue frames deceit)

Revelation 21:8 - But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars – they will be consigned to the lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.
