PiVAT Yearly is PiVAT from a Yearly Perspective – 4 Principles of Faithfulness from the Bible applied to this year PiVAT Yearly helps you obey with Time Decisions. It lets God plan your year. PiVAT is an acronym for Prayer, Vision, Accountability, and Testimony - 4 Biblical Principles of Faithfulness PiVAT Yearly can be done in 30 minutes – Do PiVAT Yearly before January 1st – to get God’s plan for you this year. PiVAT is a change of direction - from man's way to God's way.
Isaiah 55:8 - There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Proverbs 14:12 - For my thoughts are not your thoughts neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. God has a plan for you this year, do you know what it is? It will prosper you!
PiVAT Yearly is a 3-step process: Do PiVAT Yearly before January 1st, Do PiVAT before dinner, Update Monthly
A: Do PiVAT Yearly before January 1st
Take 30 minutes and Ask God for HIS PLAN for you for this coming year. This helps you share and pray with your spouse – to discover what you (both) need most from God, and what He is telling you to do this coming year. Get counsel in the night season. (Psalms 16:7) By morning, God will either confirm His plan in your spirit, or He may clarify your understanding of His plans for you this year.
Remember, God is not obligated to reveal everything that will occur in the next 12 months, but if we ask for His plan, He will tell us, specifically, and show us things to come.
Psalm 32:8 - "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go - I will guide you with my eye upon you."
John 16:13 - But when the the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; He will speak only what he hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come.
B: Do PiVAT before dinner (To get God’s Plan for you for tomorrow)
Do PiVAT before dinner. As you do PiVAT before dinner – getting God’s plan for you for tomorrow - He will also lead you in what steps you must take tomorrow in order to fulfill His plans for you this year.
C: Update PiVAT Yearly each month
When seeking God for His plan for you this month (PiVAT Monthly before the 1st) Update your PiVAT Yearly.
1. Ask God to confirm what He has revealed so far. Ask Him if there is anything He wants for you to add.
2. Update the Testimony Sheet with testimonies from this last month.
3. Are you on track so far to do and become what God has for you this year? If not –
Ask Him if you heard Him correctly – confirm that these things are what He wants you to pursue this year. If so,
Ask Him what actions He wants you to take to be in step with Him, so you will follow His plan for you this year.
Many opportunities will present themselves to change your focus this month or this year, but is this really what God wants - or is it the devil's distraction to keep you from what God told you to do today or this week, month or year?
Keep a PiVAT MaybeTo Do List each month! Each day presents many opportunities to deviate from the original plan and focus on something different. Anything that would change or alter your course this week FIRST goes on your PiVAT Maybe To Do List - for God to confirm, delay, or delete.
Every new opportunity - even for good things, is not necessarily God's plan for you this week, this month, or even this year. What is God telling you to say “NO” to? Be sure you hear and obey. Walk in the Spirit in time decisions. PiVAT (weekly, monthly and yearly) will train you to hear His voice, walk in the Spirit, and respond to people and situations as He directs.
How to Fill Out PiVAT Yearly?
STEP 1 PRAYER: "What do I need most from God this year?"
You won't know, ask Him, He’ll tell you - James 1:5 Before you fill in time slots - First Ask God what you need most from Him. This may or may not be related to His V: Vision for you this year. He knows what you will face in the next 365 days, He’s already been there.
He will reveal during your PiVAT Yearly time as much as He chooses at this time. But He wants you to grow in walking daily by His Holy Spirit. Remember His ways and thoughts are very different from ours (Isaiah 55:7-9) and He knows what you need before you ask (Matthew 6:8). Asking Him what you need most - also prevents you from asking amiss.
God's plan for you is to be a different person before the year is over. Some years are great years! Things just go so well. Other years God is there with you through the fire. Every year, God wants you to be more mature, more complete, and more conformed to his image Dec 31st than January 1st. He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Nothing can happen in your life without his permission. He has good for you. Learn the Fear of the LORD and walk in the blessing that He has for you. When asking God what you need most from Him this year - think in terms of what God gives. The fruit of the Spirit is a great start (Galatians 5:22) but the list of what God gives is extensive. (See PRISM Topic – What Does God Give?)
And don't think that you don't need anything from Him. To fulfill the purpose He has for you this this year- you will need things - beyond yourself. If you only knew what He can give - you'd be asking Him for more - and more often!
STEP 2 VISION:What is God telling me to do this year? The Top 3-5 Things (Habakkuk 2:2)
Ask God for His Number 1 priority for you for this year (beyond just going to work, or going to school). Then ask Him for the Number 2 and Number 3 Priority etc. These may be family, ministry, career or personal. It may be establishing a new habit, accomplishing a goal that He has for you. Ask God, He’ll tell you. Then ask Him how, He’ll tell you that too, and give you grace to follow through.
STEP 3 ACCOUNTABILITY: When is He telling me to do it? (The Specific Month) (I Chronicles 14:14-16)
Accountability for the year will be the month God is telling you to it. Whatever God has for you to do, He has the month you are to begin, just ask Him.
STEP 4 TESTIMONY: (a) What did God DO this year? (as I’m learning to obey) and (b) What did God REVEAL this year? (during my time in His Word - PRISM)
This will be a “best of the best” from your PiVAT Monthly Testimonies. God will definitely have a #1 Testimony and #1 Revelation each month - the take-aways that He wants to use to form your character so you can walk in the destiny He has for you.
Write the Top 12 things God did this year, and the Top 12 things He revealed through His Word (PRISM). Re-writing the high points reminds you of God's faithfulness, gives you another opportunity to Praise Him, and reminds you to keep applying what He is teaching you this year. You'll be amazed at how God answers prayer and what He accomplishes throughout the year! You will not be the same person! The power of your testimony cannot be overstated. It's how God has designed for you to overcome the adversary! - Rev 12:11
STEP 5 TIME FRAMES – Ask God How He Wants You To Fill Out The Time Blocks
Remember, PiVAT Yearly is God's Calendar for you this year - not your own. Ask God what time events, actions, and commitments He has for you this year. Then fill in the months as He tells you.
Don’t try to fill in every month, only what God reveals so far. He isn't obligated to reveal everything that will happen each month. There will be plenty of surprises. He will lead you month by month week by week, day by day, and hour by hour if you ask Him.
He loves the close communication. Ask Him to help you get better at hearing his voice, truly walking in the Spirit. The practice of hearing and obeying is an acquired skill - but it is definitely what followers of Christ do.
Jesus was the perfect example. He only did what His Heavenly Father told him. Great joy, true fruit, and eternal success await you as you learn to hear and obey yearly, monthly, weekly, daily, and throughout the day.
