3 Let the Holy Spirit pray Romans 8:26-27 - In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will. I Corinthians 14:15 - So what shall I do? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with my mind...

11) For those in authority I Timothy 2:1-2 - I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 12) For the Holy Spirit's filling Luke 11:13 - If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the HolySpiritto those who ask him!" 13) For the peace of Jerusalem Psalms 122:6 -Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

17 While he may be found Psalms 32:4 - Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may befound; surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach him.
What Not to Pray 1 For your own pleasures James 4:3 - You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures. 2 To avoid God's plan John 17:15-16 - My prayer is not that you take them out of theworld but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 3 Anything outside of God’s will Matthew 26:53-54 - Are you not aware that I can call on My Father, and He will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way. How Not to Pray 1 Don't pray to be seen Matthew 6:5 - And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. Luke 20:47 - They devour widows' houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Such men will be punished most severely.
2 Don't pray repetitions. Many Words don't make better prayers Matthew 6:7-8 - And when you pray do not use meaningless repetition like the pagans, for they think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
3 Don't pray holding anything against someone Mark 11:25 - And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.
4 Don't pray and doubt James 1:6-8 - But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.
5 Don't pray in pride Luke 18:11-14 - The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that Iam not like other men - robbers, evildoers, adulterers - or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get. But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, "God, have mercy on me a sinner." I tell you this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and everyone who humbles himself will be exalted."
6 Don't pray with selfish motives James 4:1-8 - What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you? You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the Spirit He caused to live in us envies intensely? But he gives us more grace. That is why scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
7 Don't pray if you are not treating your wife well (or your mother, or sister) I Peter 3:7 - Husbands in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder yourprayers.
8 Don't pray if you are sinning. Stop sinning, then pray Isaiah 1:15-16 - When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide my eyes from you; even if you offer many prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are full of blood; wash and make yourself clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight! Stop doing wrong.
I Peter 3:12 - For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous and his ears are open to their prayers, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.
I John 3:22 - And whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. Just pray… and keep praying! Know what God’s Word says about prayer. (The more you read His Word – the more you will pray, effectively.) Pray His Word – you can’t go wrong. Pray in the Spirit – and He will do the praying for you. Ask God what He wants you to pray (PiVAT Prayer List helps). Then Pray! Pray with somebody! Two are better than one. Ask God to make you a man or woman of prayer. God has things that He wants you to pray! Prayers that are fervent and effectual, that will avail much!
