(see PRISM Topic Packets: The Prayer Packet) 11 Ways to Grow in Prayer 1 The Lord’s Prayer - The pattern that Jesus shared with His disciples. The disciples recognized that Jesus' prayer life was the source of everything he did. He modeled it continuously. They knew that his life and ministry flowed out of his relationship with his Heavenly Father. So when they asked him, “Teach us how to pray,” He gave them ‘The Lord’s Prayer.’ When He said, “After this manner, pray ye,” they understood it was more than words to pray, it was a template or structure that would help them pray. 2 Pray Scriptural Prayers - The Bible contains powerful, effective prayers that can launch your prayer times. 3 Pray the Word (any verse) - God’s Word is a powerful prayer starter. Use God’s Word to be the catalyst for what you pray; any book, any verse. When praying God’s Word, pray for what the Word says - for yourself or others. Or, if the verse contains a negative reference, ask God for the opposite - His Godly principles and promises which apply; and pray those over yourself and others. 4 Pray in theSpirit - When you don’t know what to pray… pray in the Spirit. (see the PRISM Topic Packet: The Holy Spirit) Jude 1:20 – But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:27 – In the same way the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will. 5 What do you need most from God today? - This might be the best question ever. If you will ask this question - God will open a window into someone’s heart; even a complete stranger. Just be bold enough to ask, and then have the courage to pray for them, out loud, right there, on the spot. Ask the Holy Spirit to pray through you. You will be amazed at what He says to them. 6 Relationship Topic: How To Pray For SomeoneYouLove – A simple reference for prayer – a huge blessing. 7 PiVAT Prayer List – Ask God what He wants you to pray – then pray.
