The Purpose of this Training – is to teach you how to give an account daily – financially – using the example of Jack and Jill Hill – a fictional young couple who have decided to fully obey God financially – to know where God’s money is – so they can do what He tells them to do with it.
A 4C’s Accounting Tool – is a self-contained personal-finance system using Microsoft Excel so you can give an account daily - of God’s financial resources that He has entrusted to you. The4C’s are four principles of financial faithfulness from God’s Word. Capture, Categorize, Compare and Change. Capture – every dollar in and out, Categorize – dollars in - go to categories, dollars out - come from categories. Compare – how much is left in this category before the month ends, and Change – change money between categories as God directs – “Spend less there to have more here.” Your 4C’s Accounting Tool lets you alwaysknowwhere God’s money is – so you can do what He tells you to do with it. That’s being faithful financially – it’s what financial freedom feels like!
This 4C’s Accounting Tool Training is about Jack and Jill Hill… A young couple who met in college, fell in love, graduated a year and a half ago, and married a month later. They live in Hometown Ohio – where his family is from. The week after their honeymoon, Jack took a job at the Amazon Distribution Center that opened just 15 minutes from their house. He makes $17.00 an hour which isn’t great, but benefits are included, and he’s a hard worker. Those benefits are a huge blessing because they learned just before Christmas that Jill is expecting their first! The baby will be due in late August and they can’t wait! Jill works locally at Anderson Insurance – as a Social Media Manager and Customer Service Representative. They pay her $12.00 an hour, but she took the job because she gets to work from home, and the job offered the potential to go part-time when they start a family – which will be happening very soon. They live in a modest two-bedroom apartment for which they pay $600 in rent and about $200 per month in utilities ($70 for gas – level billing, and about $110 for electric - less in winter a little more in the summer). They have two cars. Jack’s is the 2005 Toyota Corolla that his mom drove, that they gave him for college. Jill bought a used Hyundai Accent for $6500 – before they got married, which she had borrowed at 5% interest – but they paid it off last year! This was thanks to Jack’s Grandpa, George Hill who taught them God’s financial principles regarding giving, saving and debt. He was the one who told them about the 4C’s Accounting Tool, helped set it up for them, and encouraged them to take God at His Word! The first debt they had was a $2000 credit card debt at 21% interest. When Grandpa Hill told them about the Debt Snowball, God confirmed it in their spirit that this is what He wanted them to do. They moved every debt to minimum payments – and put $350 per month of their savings on top of the $61.93 Credit Card payment and paid off their credit card within 6 months. That entire amount then went to their 2nd smallest debt - Jill’s Car Loan, added on top of her $123.11 monthly car payment. Ten months later they had paid that off! Now all that’s left is Jill’s $10,000 student loan. What once seemed like an impossible task – now is a debt snowball reality! Grandpa George always says – “The moment you decide to obey - no matter what – God will add wind to your sails.” That is so true! And they are on track to pay off their student Loan by December of this year or even sooner if God provides the money. Jack’s Grandpa paid for Jack’s college – from college funds he started for the grandkids when they were little. And both Jack and Jill worked through college to help offset the costs. Jack’s Grandpa owns Hometown Cleaning - a Commercial and Residential Cleaning Service in town. He recently offered them an opportunity to earn a little extra money on Saturday mornings by cleaning offices.
So, it all started just before they got married. Jack’s Grandpa was teaching them about the importance of finances in marriage. He said 75% of the divorces in America are related to finances. He taught them what the Bible says about money. They promised Him to read The Money Packet from hearwelldone.org - 11 Things You Need To Know About Money, 11 Things You Need To Know Financially, God's View of Debt, and 11 Things You Need To Know About Giving – Why do 4C’s Every Morning and the PRISM Topic – Give An Account – all from hearwelldone.org. It changed their perspective and they both prayed about it and agreed that they would - from day one of their marriage – let God make their money decisions – and be in agreement with each other. Grandpa said the secret to financial freedom is Obeying! Let God make your money decisions! And he always said – Just remember – this month’s income pays next month’s bills - that’s where you start. They prayed about it and felt that God clearly told them to use the $3500 they received in wedding gifts as the “seed money” to start their 4C’s Accounting Tool. They used it as “this month’s income” to pay next month’s bills – so their categories are already filled. So from now on - this month’s income can pay next month’s bills. This was the first financial obedience decision they made – and they have never regretted it. The other thing Jack’s Grandpa told them multiple times – “God says debt is a curse, He never intended debt for His people – He wanted them to be lenders not borrowers.” Grandpa George said, “Debt will ruin your business and your marriage – and your giving! The only way your Grandma and I are ableto live and give like we do today – is we took God at His Word. We refused debt from when we were young – even when everyone else had nicer things than we did – it wasn’t worth the curse! We just agreed from the beginning to obey God’s Word – no matter what other people thought.” Proverbs 22:7 – the borrower is servant to the lender. I Corinthians 7:23 – You were bought with a price – don’t become slaves of men. And Romans 13:8 – Let no debt remain outstanding – but the continuing debt to love one another, for He who loves his fellow man has fulfilled all the law.” Grandpa George first showed them the 4C’s Accounting Tool and encouraged them to follow God’s Word – and Give An Account daily. “Always do 10/10/10 – That’s what your Grandma and I have done for years and we’ve never regretted it. It’s given us the blessing of God, the joy of giving, and the discipline of saving. It’s always impossible – until you decide to obey – and you see what God can do – with your obedience. Tithe 10%, Give 10% and Save 10% - let God make your money decisions – and be content with what you have. He’ll take care of the rest.” So, from the day they got married – Jack and Jill have been using the 4C’s Accounting Tool to become money obeyers – to obey God in their money decisions. They are in agreement financially, if not, they wait until God brings unity. They use HomeTown Bank for their checking account – they cut up their Master Card (even the name of that company should have given them a clue) and they now use their debit card for expenses. They are praying for God to help them payoff all debt – and save for a house. It’s hard to imagine how they will ever save enough money to buy a house without debt – but they have decided to fully obey God no matter what – and let Him worry about the details. And in the meantime – be content with what they have. Jill recently shared with one of her friends… “There’s nothing I want more than a house, but even if we never get one, we will not choose the curse of debt.” Their first commitment after tithe, giving, and saving – was to pay off all debt starting from the smallest debt to the largest. The Debt Snowball Grandpa George is always talking about.
In This Training – for the month of January – you will take over Jack and Jill’s 4C’s Accounting Tool, and Give An Account Each Day – just like Jack and Jill do… At the end of this training, as God leads – you can fill out the same 4C’s Accounting Tool Raw Data Sheet that Jack and Jill did – and we will build your personal 4C’s Accounting tool – just like Grandpa George did for Jack and Jill. So, you too can be financially faithful – and walk in the freedom and the joy of obedience that they do. This is so very important. Just like PiVAT for time, and PRISM for your mind, God wants to take over your money decisions. It’s His money anyway, He’s really good at managing it - and multiplying it - and He said “You can’t serve God and money” – Matthew 6:24. Grandpa George always says “God just uses money to teach us how to obey. Obey with money and you’ll obey with anything.” So, are you ready? Here we go. This is simple – it’s just not easy. 7-10 minutes a day is simple, just not easy because the devil will do anything to stop you. Once 4C’s is on your PiVAT for today, just like PiVAT before dinner – you will never miss. Money becomes a joy – a daily testimony of the ridiculous things God does financially when we just obey!
For this training - you will have five Training Documents. #1) 4C’s JackandJillTrainingOverview.docx – this document #2) JackandJill4C’sAccountingTool.xls – their actual 4C’s Tool – which you will fill out for them #3) JackandJillHometownbank.docx – What their bank said their transactions were this month… #4) Jack&JillAnswerKey.xls – the answer key of what their 4C’s Accounting Tool will look like finished… #5) 4C’s Accounting Tool Data Sheet – for us to build your 4C’s Accounting Tool for you – as God leads.
Here is what you will do! Pretend you are Jack and Jill – and fill out their 4C’s Accounting Tool, just like they did every day for this month…
DOING YOUR 4C’s EVERY DAY IS EASY! Every morning – your bank posts any transactions that you spent yesterday - just give an account.
Step 1: GET READY – Open Your Tools Your 4C’s Accounting Tool – and your Bank Online
Step 2: GET SET – Check for the Green $0.00 on the top right side of your Checkbook Tab. That means… Your Checkbook Registry, Your Categories Total, and Your Bank Balance from yesterday… Are all the same number! That’s it. You’re ready to begin – just process any new transactions which posted this morning from yesterday.
Step 3: GO - Enter every new Transaction in your Checkbook Tab and it’s correct Category and Get New Totals… Just Cut and Paste. If you did it correctly – your Checkbook Tab will be right back to a Green $0.00.
SO HOW DO YOU DO IT?
ENTER THE TRANSACTIONS: In the Check Book Tab - Type in the Transaction from yesterday, from their bank online. Get a new Total in the Checkbook Tab – reflecting the new bank balance today… (Your Green $0.00 will now be off by the exact dollar amount of that transaction) And Type in the Category that this Expense came from… (e.g. Grocery)
UPDATE THE CATEGORY: Copy and Paste the transaction you just typed in – to the next available line of the “Grocery” Category Get a new total in that category (by clicking the bottom right corner of the last total, and dragging down one row…) Now you know how much you have left for Groceries before the end of the month… You can now ask God what He wants you to spend it on!
THEN FINAL CHECK THE CHECKBOOK TAB: If you did it right, your Checkbook Tab should now reflect the Green $0.00 again. That’s it, you’re done! (That means your Checkbook Tab Total, and the total in all your categories, matches what the bank says you have in your checking account as of today…)
Like riding a bike – once you learn you never forget. Giving an Account each day is what God has for you! Finances become a joy – not a burden, they become a testimony. God adds to your faithfulness. Whether good times or hard times financially – obedience brings abundance! There’s joy there! It’s a heart change!
FINALLY– we pray that once you go through this training – God will prompt your heart to use a 4C’s Accounting Tool – to give an account – and fully obey – just like Jack and Jill. If you’re willing to use it faithfully for at least 30 days, we will build it for you free ofcharge and help you use it until you are fully comfortable. It’s easy!
There are only four things you can do with your 4C’s Accounting Tool. Add money to Categories, Spend money from Categories, Change money between Categories (spend less there to have more here) and Fill Categories at the end of the month (so the money is there when the bill comes due). That’s it.
Just be aware of THREE REQUIREMENTS– in order for this to work. There are many budgeting tools out there – some cooler than this one. But this isn’t about budgeting – This is about obeying - Giving An Account – Letting God make your money decisions. In order for this to work…
#1 Are youcommitted to fully obey God no matter what He tells you to dowith His money? You will find some things in His Word which are completely different than what you think right now about money – or what you currently do in your money habits. Are you willing to obey no matter what God tells you? If not – you’re probably not ready for a Financial Obedience Tool.
#2 Are you willing to Give An Account daily? Probably seven to eight minutes or less – some days zero minutes. God gave the secret weapon to obeying financially. It’s Give an Account Daily! He said, “Know the condition of your flock, give careful attention to your herds, for riches don’t last forever and a crown is not secure for all generations.” He said to Give an Account financially like a shepherd, not a farmer. If He said give an account of your crops – you would do your 4C’s Tool every spring and every fall. But He said ‘flocks’ not crops. Shepherds gave an account of their sheep every day! It’s God’s Secret to obeying with His money – Give an Account Daily so He can make your money decisions!
#3 Are you willing to sell the car? It might be different for you - it might be sell the boat, or the motorcycle, it might be sell everything you have, give to the poor, and then come, follow me. It might be to start tithing, or start giving, or it might be to change something you are doing financially that is not God’s will or God’s best. It could be re-think a wrong view of money, or fully obey in any area – that’s not fully surrendered to Him. His ways are not our ways – they are most often just the opposite. Are you willing to sell the car – if He tells you? If not, you may be like the rich young ruler who wanted to give God everything – except His money.
If you are willing to do these three things. God just set you free financially – money will follow! It’s not being completely out of debt that sets you free – some people are not making payments – but still in bondage to money. They don’t really let God make their money decisions. They still serve money. It’s not what’s in your bank that makes you free, it’s what’s in your heart. Your decision to fully obey with money - no matter what – gets you free financially. God will take over your money decisions. You will be set free and the money will follow.
Can’t wait to see how God shows you what Freedom feels like! What Debt-free feels like! what Hilarious Giving feels like! What His abundance feels like! What it feels like when money every day becomes not a struggle – but a testimony! You will see him do crazy things! Great joy is waiting.
