Love you all, praying for you!
I’ve always been uncomfortable with Proverbs Chapter 7. Maybe because the stakes are so high. But God’s wisdom is not G-rated. It’s real. It’s raw. It’s straight up - truth. Proverbs 7:8 He was going down the street near her corner, walking along in the direction of her house, at twilight as the day was fading, as the dark of night set in…vs 10 Then out came a woman… dressed like a prostitute… with crafty intent… v 13 She took hold of him and kissed him, and with a brazen face she said: v21 with persuasive words she led him astray, she seduced him with her smooth talk. All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life. This chapter is talking about the simple, the person who lacks sense (It’s not about prostitutes, or young men – it’s talking about people and the path they walk.) Why do people always walk toward their weakness? What was the simpleton’s sin? - the mistake of the fool who lacked judgment, who was devoid of sense (sense-less)? Was it when he looked at her attire (that was barely there… dressed to bait his desire?) She suddenly approached him, and you notice anyone who does that. The motion startles you and you look to see what it is… He could then close his eyes, but he already saw her. Was it when he touched her? (She took hold of him, now they are touching). Was it when he kissed her? (She kissed him! – now they are kissing) and with a brazen face (unflinching, without remorse or doubt or shame) she said… His mistake wasn’t looking or touching or kissing – He didn’t do it – it was done to him. His mistake… what made him a fool – was walking (not looking, touching or kissing) The latter three would have never happened. Why do people walk toward their weakness? Why to people always walk towards what can bait them, and play them? Do you walk toward weakness? (sometimes it’s your feet, sometimes it’s your mouth – don’t go down that verbal path – that’s the wrong street to travel.) One thing for sure – that this guy did not do… PiVAT before Dinner. Right after work – as you finished what God told you to do today, PiVAT before dinner will give you what God has assigned for you for tomorrow… but it also, resets your resolve to obey for the rest of today. His PiVAT for today never said – “after you do PiVAT before dinner for tomorrow - then walk down the street near her corner” – never. PiVAT is God plan for you - His best for you, His good for you, not just for your work hours but your after work hours, not just for your work time, its for after work time, down time, weekend time, when you let your guard down. PiVAT before dinner helps you refocus – to hear and obey. It will save your life! A common mis-perception of this story is that it is specific – or specific to young men. It’s not. It is to young and old, men or women. It’s not about sexual immorality alone – its about anything that could bait you. Some people walk toward lust, (your PiVAT will never say – Hooters for dinner), that’s not where God leads you. Some people walk towards greed (That’s not a self-improvement seminar, that’s a ‘training in greed’ seminar) Some people walk towards pride. That’s not learning excellence or work ethic, that entire pursuit is where the prideful gather. That’s not bettering yourself. That’s learning how to take advantage of people – any material gain – will evaporate – God promised it – it will come to nothing. Some people walk towards gossip (down the street near her corner) – you know that guy or girl will always end up talking about people, and you will too if you walk towards that person. Some people walk toward slander – that’s not a prayer meeting – that corner is where they speak against God’s anointed. Some people even walk toward rebellion which is as the sin of witchcraft to God – letting themselves be stirred up by those who repeat complete lies, and baseless judgments – speaking against and slandering those whom God has placed in authority –(that He can remove if He chooses) – whether bosses, coaches, teachers, or government officials. If you walk toward weakness – she will bait you, she will grab you, she will kiss you, and you will follow. When you walk there, down the street of any house – you will follow that. When you walk down the street of any weakness – near her corner – what she says – you’ll hear, and then you’ll follow. Notice it said – “All at once he followed her” Who? The person who was saying… persuasive words… but not what God is saying. And all at once he followed. Was it all at once? No, it was the end of the way he walked – many steps later – but the destination was sure – and all of a sudden, it was all of a sudden. Another thing to notice – all at once he followed her – something other than what He should follow. The exact opposite of following Jesus – this path led him to follow something or someone else. Jesus said, “Follow me!” but all at once – he followed her. Where are you walking toward? That’s who you’ll listen to, and who you will eventually follow. The best way to never walk that way – is to be on your way – that path that God has chosen for you (PiVAT before dinner – will never lead you down her street) you’ll be far away from there by now! Praying for you that PiVAT before dinner will be your habit. Like your life depends on it! Like your path depends on it, like your days and evenings depend on it. PiVAT before dinner and you won’t ever be on that street toward weakness – the dead are there. PiVAT before dinner and you will always be on the path toward your destiny – the good that He has for you – the blessing that he wants to pour out on you – that He wants you to walk in. PRISM will make that other voice sound strange – but PiVAT before dinner – will keep you from even hearing most of the wrong voices – that would try to prey on weakness. Notice never say your weakness, my weakness – be very careful about possessives. Word’s like your or my. Weakness isn’t yours, sin isn’t yours, its just what the devil is trying to bait you with. What is yours is victory, overcoming, anointing, grace, and power not just to say no to the wrong path, but yes and always to the path He chose for you! PiVAT and PRISM and your Daily Call will keep you overcoming on His path of victory! You’ll never be walking towards weakness. You will be walking in blessing – in every good thing that God has for you. Praying that you will walk this way! In the center of the path that He told you! His Good will find you there! Love you all, dad
