Love you all, praying for you…
I just love God’s Word. It gives principles and practices, purpose and prophesy. It always points us to Jesus, and His love for us and the whole world - even though we don’t deserve it. It also has some verses that are just soo good! That are loaded! That go much deeper than the surface. That’s why God said His Word never comes up empty, there is always something deeper that the Holy Spirit will reveal – If you ask. Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the LORD with all of your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and he will direct your paths. Wow! What a verse. We met a pastor once from Nigeria who stayed with us. And the thing that amazed me the most about him was how much truth came - in so few words. Everything He said was like dropping bombs. You could tell He spent much time in prayer and in Scripture. And God gave him the ability to communicate truth with power. This verse is one of those loaded verses. Trust – like sitting in a chair with your full weight, completely convinced for good reason – of it’s ability to support you. The word trust - batach <baw-takh’> means to run to for refuge, being confident or sure, to put your hope in completely . It’s more than just sitting on any old chair, its going to, immediately, a place that you know is 100% reliable. Trust in the LORD. Trust isn’t valuable in and of itself. Some people trust in the wrong thing. Trust in the LORD – the Supreme Authority. He not only is supreme in power, but He has all authority, ultimate legal jurisdiction. And when you trust, in the One who is trustworthy, trust with all your heart - completely, not doubting, not holding anything back. Not wondering if it will work again this time, but knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt, that who He is will hold true, and what He said He will do. Then it gives you the opposite. And Lean not on your own understanding. There are clearly two understandings – His and yours. To lean is to put your weight against. Not fully sitting in that chair but leaning against it, or sitting in it, but leaning against something else as well. Its funny how often we can say we trust in God, but still kinda lean on our own thoughts or perspective, opinion, or what we understand the situation to be, or how we think it should be resolved or worked out. God said, don’t lean on your ideas, fully lean on Mine! Fully trust and depend and seek Me and My thoughts on this. In all your ways – that’s everything you do, even your framework of thought, your world-view and opinions – acknowledge Him. That’s a funny word – acknowledge, it means more than just recognize, like acknowledge someone is standing there. It really means to commit to… Acknowledge him as what? Another perspective? One option of many? Another opinion? a pretty good guy? Or Acknowledge Him as LORD – the Supreme Authority over not just all the earth, but the Supreme Authority over you! I love the story of the little boy - who finally, completely exasperated at his sister always telling him what to do… blurted out... “You not the boss-a-me!” Well actually, God is. And if you acknowledge, respect and place him as your LORD, submit your thoughts and your ways to Him – God said He will direct your steps. In fact without acknowledging Him as LORD, He can't direct your steps... He’s just an option, when He wants to be your foregone conclusion. Praying that your PiVAT today – keeps you checking in with the Boss. So He can direct your steps – in the way you should go, the way chosen for you, the way best for you! Praying that your PRISM today – keeps you coming back to His Word – so your trust for Him grow into trusting Him completely - no matter what! And praying that your Daily Call today– has you obeying what He said – “Exhort one another daily” – so you never become hardened by the deceitfulness of sin, so you can overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the Word of your testimony. Love you all, dad
