Love you all, praying for you

Praise the LORD, the God of Heaven and earth – the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob – and you.  He is the God of all comfort.  I had an unplanned, unexpected, and heart-touching conversation recently.  I had to stop at an office for business reasons, and the conversation gently led to a personal story from the employee who worked there.  She shared of a child that she had – who suffered from seizures.  Sadly - it was what caused his death.  She paused as she went on to share – I always prayed that God would keep him from having a seizure today.  That morning I prayed that God would heal him.  That was the day he died.  There was a pause – just silence.  What can you say?  After a few moments – and asking God to help me – I just shared my deep sorrow for her loss...  How old was he?  Twenty-six.  Wow, my oldest is twenty six – I couldn’t even imagine a loss like that.  What do we suffer in life - compared to what others have gone through...  What was He like?  "He was such a wonderful young man."  I could tell by her words and her demeanor that this was a believing family.  Her eyes welled with tears, but she didn’t blame God – she wasn’t angry, she just trusted him - even in what she didn't understand.  Just yesterday in my PRISM time with God - Isaiah 119:50 - My comfort in my suffering is this, your promise preserves my life.  Truly He is the God of all comfort – not just consolation.  He gives comfort.  Console is to set or allay, to give rest or quiet.  To bring a contentment, to bring back to moderate happiness by relieving from distress.  God consoles us – but He also gives comfort.  To console is to attempt to bring back to at least ground level – from the depths that you are in.  But Comfort goes further, it gently over time – strengthens, it invigorates, it cheers and enlivens.  It brings you back to life.  Not just relief from pain or distress, to moderate pleasure, it brings you back to where you can begin the journey of joy once more.  God gives comfort in suffering – and it is this.  Your promise – preserves my life.  How often do you think of His promise?  Those who have gone before who had died in faith – we will see again.  He promised.  He will turn our sorrow into joy – He promised.  He will never leave us or forsake us – He promised.  He knows what we are going through – He has gone through it himself – and He is right there with us going through it with us – He promised.  He will bring the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, joy for mourning – He promised.  He will fulfill your purpose – He promised.  He will take what the devil intended for evil and will turn it into good.  He promised.  He knows what suffering is.  Nothing you will ever suffer – is more than what He did.  He suffered horribly so you could have the comfort He gives.  So you can comfort others – with the comfort you yourself have received from Him.  (2 Corinthians 1:4) Praying that you will be completely soaked in His promises.  That PRISM – would be your consuming habit – so that His Word is planted in you – not just for you, but for others, not just for today, but for yesterday, today, tomorrow and forever...  not one minute you invest in His Word will ever be a waste of time, or a fruitless pursuit.  It will always yield a return - He will give you comfort, strength, joy, peace – He has placed His Word above even His Name.  Because every Word He speaks – will become a part of His Name – His story – for all of eternity.   Praying that you will love Him by loving His Word – that you would know His promise that preserves your life – that saves, sustains and brings flavor again, comfort, joy and brings you victory in every situation, in every meditation, and conversation.  So the God of all comfort will comfort others through you.

Love you all,
dad
