Love you all, praying for you,
I just love God’s Word – it was written for our learning, so that through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope! It gives examples to follow – Jesus being Number 1 by far... but others as well. For similar results – you need similar investments. The cause and effect of decisions and choices. Psalms 145:5 – I remember the days of long ago: I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done. I spread out my hands to you. My soul thirsts for you like a parched land. Wow. I'm so thankful for those who have gone before us. The ones who were faithful - so we can see what it looks like. There’s a quote – “You are what you do daily.” Not sure that’s fully accurate, you are more than just what you do. (Praise God – He loves you for who you are, no matter what you’ve done). But what you do daily impacts who you become. Praying that you are becoming like Jesus – who only and always did what His Heavenly Father had for Him. David’s life gives us other great examples. Sometimes of things to do, and other times - things not to do. Successful people do successful things. Blessed people do blessed things. Not get to do… Do – to get to. “Well, they're successful, so they get to do successful things. They’re blessed, that’s why they get to do blessed things.” No, they do successful things before they are successful – that’s what makes them successful. They do blessed things that make them blessed. And there’s a blessing just in the doing those less-visable things – that bring more blessing! So they get to do those more visible things that everyone calls blessed. They get to do the things that blessing enables, after they do the things that enables the blessing. So what are those things that David did? What does a man after God’s own heart do? There’s nothing that says you can’t do it too! Here's what David does - He remembers, he meditates, he considers and he worships. That's why. First He remembers – days long ago, God’s faithfulness in his own life in times past – and God’s great faithfulness in the lives of those who have gone before him. From a son at 100 years old, to the parting of the red sea, the promises God kept, and the blessing He poured out. He remembers what God did, then he meditates on all of His works. He spends time in thought about them – maybe even imagining what it would have been like had he been there to see it in person, or experience those miracles along with them. Then he considers – what caused it, by those who were faithful before him... What did they do which invited and enabled God’s faithfulness and blessing - or what some did that prevented it. What were the qualifiers of God moving so mightily? And what could he personally do in this day that would enable God’s hand to move in this day – like He did back then? This is the consideration after the remembering and meditating - that leads to positioning. Then David worships – he spreads out his hands, he surrenders, he humbles himself in worship… worshiping with his whole body and being. The spreading of his hands bringing all focus to the Creator and Sustainer of Heaven and Earth, the Master Designer, and the Powerful Completer of every good thing. That’s why his soul begins to thirst for God like a parched land. The remembering, meditating, and considering, created a thirst for worship – and it welcomed God’s presence. And in God’s presence people change, hearts change, minds change, and then, things change. Praise God He’s the God of change – and it’s always forward, always growing, even in any setback, God draws us forward. His good is eternal, His power is unequaled, His promises are sure, and His love for you endures forever. Praying that you will remember, meditate, and consider like David, so you can spread out your hands like David – So God can do the things that praise brings. Love you all, dad
