Love you all, praying for you!
God showing me something recently. Psalms 96:7-8 Ascribe to the LORD, O families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His Name; bring an offering and come into his courts. This verse is saying four things that we should do. Ascribe the first thing, Ascribe the second thing, bring an offering, and come into His presence. Ascribe to the LORD – glory and strength. What is strength? – physical, mental or emotional capacity, energy or power to do something - Strength. What is glory – (to glory - the verb – means to exult with joy, to rejoice or boast – we are to always glory in the LORD). But this glory – the noun – means brightness, splendor, honor, praise, fame or renown. Ascribe to the LORD – glory and strength. What makes you look good? (any accomplishment or possession of yours – talents, abilities, successes, anything you have produced that you are recognized for) that’s glory. The glory you have obtained – the recognition you have received because of what you’re good at… what you’re known for. What energy, power, or strength do you have – any physical, mental, emotional, ability, power, energy, motivation – that’s strength. God said ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. What you got… ascribe to the LORD. What is ascribe? To attribute, impute or set to - as a cause. Attribute – to allot in contemplation – to consider as belonging to. To impute as a cause of (“Our misfortunes are generally attributed to our follies or imprudence” from Websters 1828 Dictionary) Impute – to charge to, or set to the account of.
So what is God saying? Ascribe or attribute means to recognize to be the source of – or the cause of. Any capacity or ability you have – the cause is Jesus. It’s His energy, His power, His ability, His strength – that enabled you to do what now brings glory or attention to you. It’s not – I’m just good at this – I’m talented at this, or I worked really hard. Everyone does. You only worked hard because God gave you the physical strength to do it, the emotional strength to do it, even the mental strength – the motivation – the cognitive ability to even place value on hard work. That comes from God - and He shares the glory with you – He lets you get recognition for what He’s given you. God says ascribe – recognize the source is Him, and the glory and recognition you enjoy – comes from Him. Ascribe is both mental and verbal. Recognize it cognitively – and then tell someone – put words to it. You’ll hear it yourself – along with them. Then the next thing that verse says - once you recognize and give words to the source of your own glory and strength, recognize and put words to His glory and His strength. His ability to do what He does! The fame and recognition that belong to Him! Recognize it and put words to it. Give him the glory (the fame and recognition) due His Name. Everything He is and does and says and will do – completely apart from what He is giving to you, and doing in you. Finally, bring an offering and come into His presence. What offering does God need? He doesn’t need money – although all your money really belongs to Him – He may direct you to share some with others… do it! There’s always more where that came from – He’s the source – and He gives it. The sacrifice of praise is what God desires most – enter His presence with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Make His presence your priority – all day today, throughout the day – keep coming back. Every chance you get. You are changed in His presence. It changes you! Praying for you - that you will ascribe to the LORD – the strength and the renown that you have. That you’ll recognize it and tell someone. Praying that you will ascribe to the LORD the glory and strength due His Name – Everything He is and says, will say and will do, has done and will do again and more! Praying that you will always have the sacrifice of praise on your lips all day long today. That God will lead you to a new level of praise – because you always choose His presence. Praying that you will live out the PIVAT He gave you before dinner last night – so His glory can be more evident in your life. Praying that your PRISM – will transform you mind and your image into His. Praying that you will never miss your Daily Call. Never miss this Daily Opportunity that God has ordained to ascribe to Him glory and strength – the glory due His Name. His Good is waiting for you today – every next step of obedience brings you into it – and into His presence. He’ll make His glory great through you.
