Love you all, praying for you
I really love purpose. Have you ever done something – maybe even for a long time... a lot of time and attention and energy – and eventually you find yourself wondering, "Why am I even doing this?" Purpose is so important – it’s hard to continue the what – if you don’t understand the why. There has to be a reason – that’s purpose. Paul said – I don’t just run for nothing, I’m not just shadow boxing… He understood purpose. I’m really thankful for PRISM – I: Insight from the Word. This book of God’s Wisdom – that has a chapter for every day this month – the wisdom you need for what God knows you will face today – don’t leave home without it! I Iove that God doesn’t just tell us a bunch of things to do. He gives the purpose. Proverbs 1:1 tells "what" - the Proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel. And then the very next thing – it gives the purpose of this book. It tells you what for – what is this for - and why – before actually telling you – what it’s going to tell you. For attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight - for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair. Then it tells you what to do with it … Let the wise listen and add to their learning – that means even if you are wise, there’s more to be gained… you can grow in it! Then it tells you how to begin – the foundation of it – The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, but fools despise (place little value on) – wisdom and discipline. This is good stuff. This will ground you – establish you – this will guarantee your success! For acquiring a disciplined and prudent life. Why would you want that? First what is it? Discipline sometimes gets a bad rap. Your mom may have said – your dad is going to discipline you when he gets home! No wonder we don’t like that term. But correction is only a minor part of discipline. Correction will get your attention – that you need a change of direction, but discipline is what establishes you in the best direction – consistently – expertly. Discipline – means education instruction, cultivation and continuous improvement, comprehending instruction in arts, sciences, correct sentiments, morals and manners, and the wisdom of coming under God’s authority - His will and His ways. Discipline means skilled in being excellent! It’s the path and pattern of success. Show me a successful person who lacks discipline. You can’t. Without discipline, success is a crap shoot. Yeah, you may have inherited wealth – but that doesn’t make you're successful nor does it mean it will last. The disciplines of your life – are what reveal and build your character. Someone once said – Success can take you where your character can’t sustain you. For some this is true. Flaws in character can negate even a great thing they accomplished. There are things you do to be – and there are things you do to do. PiVAT will tell you what God wants you to do. PRISM will tell you what God wants you to be. Praying that PRISM I: Insight from the Word – is a daily – lifelong habit – which lets you add to the wisdom God has given you – so you build the character to sustain you in that place of Good that God will lead you to. Praying that you love His Word – and instantly apply it. Praying that those things God has you do every day – will enable you to accomplish the thing that God has for you to do today. Love you all, dad
