Love you all, praying for you,
God prompting me recently. There’s a difference between being delighted, and delighting yourself. There’s a difference between being encouraged and learning to encourage yourself. Being delighted or being encouraged means something external delights or encourages you. Puppies can delight you, your home team winning the game can delight you. There’s nothing more delightful than a child responding to their Mommy or their Daddy. If that doesn’t delight your heart… you haven’t had children, yet. Someone says something – and it encourages you. Maybe a compliment, maybe they noticed something that you did well, or that put a lot of effort in, and took the time to let you know how much they appreciated it, and appreciate you. It really encouraged you. But God’s Word teaches us to delight yourself… encourage yourself – in the LORD. Psalm 37:4 - Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart. That word delight however, is not what you would initially think it is. The word ‘delight’ here – anag <aw-nag’> means to be soft or pliable. Delight yourself in the LORD is not just to receive great pleasure in… it also means to be pliable, movable, shapeable - so He can give you the desires of your heart. First He shapes your heart, then He gives you the desires that He has for you. Sometimes we can desire the wrong thing, or the lesser thing, the insignificant thing, or the temporary thing. What seems so important at the time, from a life’s perspective, much less an eternal one, is rather insignificant in the broader view. God’s perspective is lifelong, legacy included, generational, and eternal. To delight yourself in the LORD – means to be pliable and moldable in your heart, character and actions. If God tells you something – will you really do it? PiVAT before dinner will prove it. If you ask Him, He will tell you His plans for you for tomorrow, even in this hour. If you check in with Him, He will confirm His plans for you for today. They aren’t what you would naturally think or do – His Ways are higher, different, but if you will delight yourself in – fully surrender, fully trust, fully obey – Him, He’ll give you the best desires, and fulfill them in you. (Just try it! Literally this hour, in this moment. What He told you to do, do it fully. Confirm with Him throughout the day and be predetermined to do it. When obedience becomes a foregone conclusion for you, it becomes a habit without thinking. God does the most incredible things through those who are pliable, moveable – and who move quickly. Those who delight themselves in the LORD – who are pliable, formable, surrendered... His plans will surprise you, His plans will delight you, and when you walk in them, that is delighting yourself in the LORD – the Supreme in Authority. Most authority is self-serving, and self-seeking, but not God. He is you-serving, but He still gets all the glory! When you choose to delight yourself in Him, that’s pliability – it gives you His desires for you, they are only and completely good, and that is how He can bring the best desires than you can have – to fruition in your life, to come to pass… to become the reality you live in! Praying that PiVAT before dinner is your DNA. It makes you more and more pliable – so your desires can come true! Praying that PRISM is giving you deeper and deeper understanding of not only who He is, and His love for you, but also His will for you and His desires for you. Praying that your Overcoming Testimony in your Daily Call – is cementing your delight in the LORD – so He can give you the desires of your heart. Love you all, dad
