Mess brings stress. It always does.
Mess and stress go together. You cannot have one without the other. Disorder is stressful, no matter what excuse is given. It’s hard for the peace of God to reign in mess and stress.
Dictionary. Mess. A dirty, untidy, or disordered condition.
1828 Webster: Order – a regular disposition or methodical arrangement of things…
(the order of troops. The order of books in a library. The order of proceedings in a legislative assembly). Order is the life of business. Good order is the foundation of all good things.
Daniel Webster said, “Good order is the foundation of all good things.” It could be because he knew the Word of God. (James 3:16)
Exodus 40:4 – And you shall bring in the table and set in order the things that are to be set in order upon it.
Leviticus 24:8 – Every Sabbath he shall set it in order before the LORD continually.
Anything presented to God was always presented in order. God’s order. Even sacrifices were arranged in order. God said in Romans 12:1 that we are to present our bodies as living sacrifices.
Where there is mess and stress, God cannot bless. God simply cannot bless mess and stress.
Psalms 119:133 – Order my steps in your Word, and let not any sin have dominion over me.
I Corinthians 14:40 – Let all things be done decently and in order.
I Timothy 1:5 – For this reason, I left you in Crete. So that you would set in order the things that are lacking.
God’s Word reveals the order of things God has for you. God has an order for your steps – for your lifetime. Order honors God, disorder does not.
Obstinate children say, “It’s not that bad, Mom.” The obedient listen and hear, and do it.
The opposite of mess is order. The opposite of stress is peace. God wants order and peace for you. The devil wants mess and stress for you. Mess and stress keep you from God’s best.
What does your room look like? What does your car look like? What does your house look like? Do they look like God owns them? Do they honor God?
Ok. I feel you, but it’s not that easy! We’ve tried before. So how do you move from mess and stress to order and peace?
