Someone once said,

“Parenting is your rookie season.  And your only season, you don’t get a second chance."

So don’t screw up my grandkids!   Only kidding, you guys are doing a wonderful job.

But a couple of things might help.  Your children are already in habits.  They are just your habits.

Praying that God will show you the structures that align with His Word, so that the Holy Spirit can lead you through them - to shape their character and their responses to the Holy Spirit, by first forming and guiding their responses to you as their parents.

That’s why getting newborns on a schedule is so important.  It’s more important than the short term.  This establishes Godly patterns for the long term.

You won’t have to teach them how to disobey, it will come naturally.  So when they are little, before it becomes a crisis.  Celebrate obedience!  Redirect any tendency to explore disobedience.  So your affirmation to correction ratio is at least 6:1 or even 60:1.

We really love those babies!

Love you all,
dad

    Encouraging Daily Obedience

For years, we used  5-minute "Daily Huddles" to coordinate schedules, car needs, and train our kids in wisdom, life and relationships. As they grew, married and moved out, we started to text. We pray this is a daily encouragement for you!
