Love you all, praying for you.
God challenging me today... For I can testify about them, that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish it on their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. - Romans 10:2-3 Zeal doesn’t mean knowledge. You can be passionately off. Enthusiastically wrong. Knowledge is knowing, a "walking in." Zeal without knowledge is thinking you know – forging ahead. The knowledge of God (His plan, His way, His timing) depends on submission. Fully obeying, willing to wait, doing His “what,” His “how,” and His “when.” It’s also the attitude in which you do it. Striving? Begrudging? Complaining? Or with His complete peace, and the attitude of joy, diligence and contentment. The fullness of His time, the “sweet spot.” What is the indicator of zeal without knowledge? Anything you try to establish on your own. (v3) You are in danger of being misled into zeal without knowledge. His leading is not you pushing. (or others pushing, or anything else pushing: expectations, dreams, ambitions, the clock ticking, outside pressures). Just after college I had a co-worker who was 35 years old and an accomplished ballroom dancer. He gave a dance lesson to April and her roommates. And April couldn’t help but rave about what a good dancer he was. He was so good she didn’t even think about the disparity of their skill level or her inadequacy as a dancer. He swept her away, like gliding – it was easy. The Holy Spirit leads like a dance, you don’t stress, or strive, or even concentrate. You are swept up with him. He carries you. Like the runner’s high or the quarterback who finally sees the game in slow motion. So how do you guard against zeal without knowledge? Humility and Submission. Both are choices. God’s plans for you for today or this week, come with His peace, and joy comes with it. Praying for you, that you will choose humility, humble yourself, declare your submission, wait on His voice, ask for his discernment, believe you have received it, and step forward with Him leading - at the time He chooses. That’s where all the really, really good stuff awaits you! Love you all, dad
