Daily Huddle - Thu  Mar 21, 2019      Why People Turn Away

Love you all, praying for you.

In my PRISM time, God showed me what happened Tuesday night.  Kingdom looks like family.

Psalm 68:6  God sets the lonely in families, He leads forth the prisoners with singing, but those who turn away live in a dry land.

God’s heart is every person in a family.  When you receive Christ He adopted you into His family.  Sharing meals together, that’s what families do.   Without a family, you are lonely.  God wants us to be family.    You don’t lose track of family.  (I haven’t seen Suzie for a couple years – I wonder how she’s doing).  No, you always know where Suzie is, if she’s missing you know why, and you tell her she’s missed, you know what she needs, and everyone goes to help her. That’s what families do.

Lonely.  Yachiyd.  <yaw-kheed>  Has two meanings.
.1) Sole, united, beloved.  Or
.2) Sole, solitary, lonely, isolated.

Both meanings apply.  Every person is beloved by God – that’s why He puts them in a family so they are not alone, but ‘at home,’ within, inside.    Then, He leads forth prisoners with singing.   Leads forth – means leads out.  Out of captivity, bondage of sin, or separation, mind, soul, and body, He leads them out!  Worship is a means by which captive are set free.   That’s why Jordan stood up and shared what God was telling her about freedom  (nothing in chains).  But that word ‘with singing’ has greater meaning.  Only one occurrence in scripture, it indicates freedom, prosperity.  The opposite of bondage.

So God takes those He so dearly loves from isolated, into family – a home, so they can move from bondage to freedom, from captivity to prosperity.   But those who turn away, end up in a dry place.  Unless they have a schedule conflict, why are people missing?  Why do people turn away?

.1) They didn’t know.  No one invited them.

.2) They don’t feel valued, they don’t think they would be missed.  They don’t know they are needed.

.3) They got hurt, and took offense

.4) They are captive to sin, and feel uncomfortable around family in the presence of God.

.5) They value something else more, other pleasures.

Praying for you that God would show you how to love people to family, to home, to the inside…   Where they can be led forth with singing into the freedom and prosperity that God has designed for them – in family.

Love you all,
dad
