Love you all, praying for you.
God reminding me recently - the importance of humility - and the importance of humility in leadership. The greatest leader of all time is Jesus Christ. No one even comes close. But He was a follower even more than a leader. That's what He did - more than anything else - He followed the plans that His Heavenly Father had for Him. He did it - so we would know how. The key to leading is learning to follow. If you are a follower of Jesus Christ – you will automatically be a leader – the blessing of God on your obedience, and your testimony of His goodness will draw people like moth to flame. In fact that’s what God commissioned us to do. Make Disciples – other obeyers. Praying that you are living in PiVAT today – checking in with Him throughout the day – fulfilling His assignment this hour with joy! Praying that His Word is overflowing in your heart and mind and mouth today. That you can’t help but coming back to PRISM throughout the day. Praying that your Daily Call – is God’s encouragement to both of you, and that your overcoming testimony with them, is just the first of many today. Praying that you will give an account every day – to know the condition of your flock – so you know where God’s money is, and are faithful to do what He tells you to do with it. Praying that you will humble in following, and humble in leading. Every obeyer has great influence. People are watching. Praying that you will lead in love and humility. God reminding me of the four “8's" of leaders - They Demonstrate, they Communicate, they Celebrate, and they Replicate. #1 - they Demonstrate - Leaders always go first – they demonstrate what effectiveness looks like, not only what to do, by how to do it, what effectiveness looks like and the results it brings. #2 - they Communicate – what do leaders communicate? Vision, Values and Value. Proverbs 29:18 - Without vision the people perish – (that means to die, decay, waste away, become ruined, or useless – rather than effective and useful) Mission and Vision – draw people – they gather like minded people to accomplish the things in God's heart for them. Leaders communicate vision and mission with simplicity and clarity. It keeps people focused, productive, feeling like their efforts aren’t for nothing. Mission – what we do, Vision – what could happen (the desired end state). Communicated Vision brings unity among people and provides a framework for decisions – so efforts are not misplaced. Great leaders also communicate values – not only what we do, and what we hope to see, but how we treat others in the process. The means are just as important as the end. And great leaders also communicate value – how much they value those whom they serve and whom they serve together with. They communicate well how much they appreciate each person – for who they are – as much as what they contribute to the team or the cause. When people understand what they are doing – where they are going – and that they are loved and valued – they won’t give up, they will bring others to join you! The third ‘8’ of leaders - They Celebrate - Great leaders celebrate the successes of others – they take the time to put the spotlight on the contribution, accomplishments and achievement of others. They celebrate progress towards the cause – but really they celebrate people. Everyone wants to be recognized for a job well done, for all the effort they put in and the sacrifice they made. It not only encourages that person to do more – but it really tells people that they are loved and valued for who they are, not just for what they do. And #4 Great leaders replicate. – they want to produce more like them. They aren’t threatened by other leaders – they want to help them lead even better than they do. II Timothy 2:2 - Paul told Timothy – “what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.” Praying for you, that the obedience you are growing in - you will replicate in others. Praying that of all the leadership responsibilities you have in your life – you will lead others in the obedience of Christ. Everything else fades, but that will remain forever. Your reward will be great in heaven. Praying that you will always demonstrate a life like Jesus, that you will communicate vision, values and value others, that you will celebrate their success and help them discover the testimony that God has waiting for them! and that you will replicate… obeyers of Jesus. Praying that God may even draw you to lead a PiVAT Small Group - where lives are changed forever, as people learn to walk each day - with another - in all that God has stored up for their good. Love you all, dad
