Love you all, praying for you.
Praying that you'll stay with me on this one - and that you would be greatly encouraged. God prompted me to share with you this morning – your greatest need. The Need To Heed. (The need for speed?) No, the Need to Heed. H-e-e-d. Alright, first things first. Your greatest need in life is Salvation (See the Relationship Topic - Salvation First) without the abc’s - without Admitting you are a sinner, which separates you from a holy God, without Believing that He sent his Son to live a sinless life, and die in your place – covering your sins - suffering your death – the penalty for your sin – so you don’t have to; and without Committing your life to Him – from now on giving your entire life for him (giving your time, your mind, your money – to His control) – that’s what Salvation means - His life for yours. Without those simple abc’s, you will live for eternity separate from God. That sucks – forgive the understatement… it’s a place called hell – actually the lake of fire where sin death and hell are cast into - forever – without end. So not only are you in outer darkness for all of eternity, you missed out on the deep deep love of God, the complete joy that God has for you in this life – and the blessing of watching Him daily – fulfill your purpose – the purpose for which you were created – by a God who not only created you – but loves you with an everlasting love. That’s your greatest need - your need for Salvation. Your second greatest need is to be filled with the Holy Spirit. (See the Relationship Topic - The Filling Of The Holy Spirit) That’s the first thing Jesus told his followers to do – those who committed their lives to Him – because He committed His life to them… He said wait until the Holy Spirit has come upon you. And you will receive power – to be my witnesses. That word means martyrs. In other Words He was saying – the life that I have for you to live – the best life your could ever imagine – both forever in eternity – and right here on earth – you can’t live in your own power – you need my power – to do it. The Holy Spirit who leads you in all truth – He’s the One who gives you the power to obey – when your old nature doesn’t feel like it. He’s how you walk – in the Spirit – so you don’t do the things you used to do, or that your old nature wants to do... It's how you do the good and wonderful things He has for you!. It’s how you understand God’s Word – (the Pharisees had the Word, but didn’t understand it) And it’s how you understand what God’s plans are for you. You can’t do PiVAT or PRISM without the Holy Spirit. That’s the promise that Jesus gave for you. You don’t have to be in an upper room – Luke 11:13 – Just ask Him, and you will be filled with the Holy Spirit – and everything that He promised along with it. That’s your second greatest need. To be filled with the Holy Spirit. So now that we covered first things first. If you have committed your life to Jesus Christ – and have been filled with His Holy Spirit – Now What – What’s your greatest need? The Need to Heed. The need to obey. Why? First - because that’s all Jesus did. He said – I only do what my Father wants me to do. Second, because that’s what Jesus taught. If you love me you will obey what I say. (See the Relationship Topic – Love is Obey) So how do you obey? First practice every day with PiVAT before dinner – Get His plans for you for tomorrow – It’s prophetic practice - He tells you things to come - and it's obeying practice - your chance to do what He tells you. The Holy Spirit in PiVAT before dinner – will tell you things to come – things for you for tomorrow so you can walk in them. When you do – that’s heeding – obeying - practice. Second, practice heeding with PRISM throughout the day – Soak in His Word – Let the Holy Spirit – who always points you to Jesus who is the Word of God – lead you in all truth. PRISM – God’s Word – is the Holy Spirit leading you in His truth for you for today! Third – Your Daily Call Testimony – this is obeying Hebrews 3:13 – sharing what God did and revealed as you are learning to obey. It’s how you overcome! And there’s on more thing – about this greatest need – the need to heed. Heed is the moment where humility – combines with the action of obedience that proves that humility. The moment you decide to obey. Here’s a crazy passage from Scripture – that’s really not just about vineyards or fields or walls or weeds – it’s about how to heed. How to recognize the Holy Spirit leading you to obey – which is what Jesus did – which is what presenting your body as a living sacrifice (time thoughts and money – controlled by Him) really is. So how do you become a better Heeder? How do you learn to heed – this greatest need? God prompted me from this passage – and for the moment – lets not talk about the content itself – but the heeding process it speaks of. The first step of heeding is obeying the Holy Spirit. The pre-determined decision like David – to obey whatever God said. “I have inclined my heart to obey your word. The Holy Spirit rarely screams – He’s not a yeller… He’s a still small voice – which you either give honor to by obeying, or dishonor to - by ignoring, quenching, delaying. You exalt Him or you quench Him. The more you obey immediately – the more recognizeable that still small voice is. And the key to heeding – is to recognize that voice! So you can immediately act on it! You’re probably familiar with this passage Proverbs 24:30-32 - I went past the field of the sluggard, past the vineyard of someone who has no sense, thorns had come up everywhere, and the stone wall was in ruins. I applied my heart to what I observed… (this is the key to heeding!) I learned a lesson from what I saw – a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest and poverty will come on you like a thief, and scarcity like an armed man. Forget the actual subject matter for a moment – and just focus on the process. This is life-transferable stuff! Then I saw and considered, I looked and received instruction – I observed and took it to heart. When I saw it, I considered it well, I asked the Holy Spirit about it! I looked on it and received instruction. When I saw this I gave careful consideration to it. I received instruction from what I saw. Many people saw this. Many drove past the field of the sluggard, the vineyard of the man who lacked sense… But they didn’t give it consideration, so they didn’t learn a lesson. They weren’t heeders. They didn’t realize this greatest need. They didn’t ask the Holy Spirit about it – to reveal the truth that He had for them in this question, or this situation, or this observation. So how do you learn to heed? How do you develop this skill that will help you walk in the Spirit? - to recognize that still small voice to you. #1) Ask God what He thinks about it #2) Stay In His Word (PRISM gives the Holy Spirit something to work with – It increases your sensitivity to His voice). #3) Observe on purpose. Observe things more carefully – God may speak to you in an unusual way. Ask God what He wants you to see, what He wants to teach you from it. What He wants you to learn from it. And what He wants you to change, or do - so you can walk in it. To Heed is to see – to consider, give careful and prayerful consideration – to learn something, and then to do something. Immediately change your behavior accordingly - implement it! Right now! And #4) to learn to heed – Give A Testimony – Every time you obey – lock it in with your testimony. Praise God for Daily Calls – They help you with heeding practice – recognizing the Holy Spirit’s Voice – Obeying Quickly – and giving God the credit for doing it - in practice. Praying for you – for that need to heed. That neither ignorance, nor negligence, or resistance will ever dull His voice in your spirit. But that you would always be full and instant in obedience That you would ask Him to show you want He wants you to see and consider and observe and take to heart - So you can do it! So that Heeding would be your Habit – so the joy of obedience can become your joy every day. Love you all, dad
