Two Things You Can Learn From Elon Musk

Love you all, praying for you.

I just love God’s Word.  It gives you the standard that everything in life is measured by.  There is an interesting individual in our generation.  Elon Musk is unusual in imagination, in vision, and in contribution to technology, business, and the quality of life on this planet.  He may have just recently become the world’s wealthiest man, but his wealth is a by product of his contribution.  He single-handedly changed the automotive industry, producing low carbon footprint automobiles that can out-sprint legendary sports cars.  He’s designed a pickup truck that reportedly can survive a sledge hammer, as fast as a sports car, where you can drive up your four-wheeler with no ramp needed, that comes with solar panels to extend the battery life – and can power a house in a pinch.  The government has spent millions if not billions on solar failures, which this guy has produced in a matter of a few years.  His designs could completely change the trucking industry.  He is involved with Artificial Intelligence, Solar Power, and now space travel.  His company, Space-X became the first privately held company to successfully launch human space flight in a recent three day journey in which four people orbited the earth.  One article caught my interest.  In 2020 Elon Musk divested himself of seven luxury homes.  He sold them all.  And apparently lives in a $50,000 modular box house near His Space-X facility in Texas.  With his income, a relocation to Texas from California makes financial sense as Texas has no state income tax – unlike California.   Those two choices are interesting. First to divest from luxury homes, and second to relocate to be closer to his dream.  Those who are serious about their dream, unencumber themselves from all other distractions.  The more singular the focus, the greater the likelihood of success.  Jesus was like that.  Not comparing Elon Musk with Jesus, but He told his disciples often, I only do what my Father tells me to do.  These words are not my own, they belong to my Father who sent me.  Psalms 84:3 – Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young – a place hear your altar, O LORD Almighty, my King and my God.  If you love someone, or something, you want to live with them, you want the proximity to be as close as possible.  Paul said Phil 3:8 – What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things.  I consider them garbage, that I might gain Christ.  Paul like Elon – didn’t put his value in luxury homes, or the entrapments of earthly things.  He was focused on what God was calling Him to do.  So what about you?  How close is your home to His presence?  And what are you focused on?  Gaining things that don’t matter, or fulfilling God’s dreams for you?  If your focus is Him, and your dream is His dream for you – and if you unencumber yourself from things that don’t matter – there is nothing God cannot do through you.  You may not be the worlds richest or smartest man, you may not sell companies for millions of dollars, but everything on earth will stay here.  Your choices in this lifetime, will impact eternity without end.  Praying that you will choose closeness to Him, and His focus to be yours.  Another thing that struck me, apparently Elon schedules his time in five minute segments.  Probably not every hour of his life, but during times that need to be productive, his focus is in the smallest increments.  Not saying that you have to do that, but certainly God has things planned for you in this hour.  That will focus you on His good, and His purpose in this season.  And this season starts with this hour.  Praying that PIVAT before dinner will help you focus on God’s best for you.  That PRISM in His Word – will help separate the unimportant from the important, so you will know His heart, and know His plans, and walk by His grace to things beyond what you can imagine.

Love you all,
dad
