The first requirement - to fulfill your purpose in life - is Salvation.
God created you; uniquely, beautifully, there is no one like you! You did not happen by accident! He created you for a purpose! He has plans for you for your good! He knows what you were created for, and for you to ever understand it and walk in it, you must first surrender your life to Jesus Christ, and receive God's gift of Salvation. You have to be transformed in your heart first, in order to truly understand these truths so you can follow His plans, live your best life, and fulfill the purpose He created you for! Otherwise, nothing on this website will make any sense.
Chrysler some years ago had a marketing campaign that said: "It's a Jeep thing... you wouldn't understand." Implying... unless you own a Jeep - you can't possibly understand what we're talking about. They got it perhaps from the Bible:
I Corinthians 2:13-14 - "This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit (of God), expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned."
What is Salvation?
Salvation is a gift from God, not earned by human effort, where a person surrenders their life to God's authority, and puts their faith and trust in Jesus' death on the cross -in their place - to pay the penalty for their sins, and restore them into right relationship with God; so they are no longer under God's judgment, but His mercy.
Salvation permanently alters the human heart. It brings you a new birth of Spiritual Life, opens your understanding to the things of the Spirit of God, and changes the eternal destiny of your soul - enabling you to spend eternity with God in Heaven.
Those who reject God's free gift of Salvation - (the death of Jesus Christ in their place to pay for their sin) – will forever be separate from God - in the second death - a place called the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:14-15)
The Result of Salvation - What do you get?
1) A new heart from God - which enables you to recognize, hear and understand His voice, and be saved from the control of sin in your life.
2) A fully paid ticket to heaven - being saved from the lake of fire and eternal separation from God. By placing your faith in Christ, and committing your life to His control, your name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life - "the guest list" of heaven. Jesus' death in your place makes you Holy in God's sight, and therefore qualified by the blood of Jesus to spend eternity in the presence of a Holy God - where no sin can possibly co-exist.
3) The Holy Spirit. You can now receive the Holy Spirit that Jesus promised, the One who stays with you forever, and comes alongside you to lead you into all truth, and to help you live your best life!
Salvation means God saves you from sin and it's control over you in this life; saves you from Hell so you can live with God in Heaven for eternity; and enables you to be filled with the Holy Spirit – the power to know and fulfill the purpose you were created for!
How2 Be Saved
1) Admit that you are a sinner - that you need God's Forgiveness. 2) Believe that Jesus died in your place, that his sacrifice covers your sin, and restores your relationship with God. 3) Commit to letting God be the LORD of your life. By His strength - living your life as He directs.
STEP 1: Admit that you are a sinner – that you need God’s Forgiveness.
Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Isaiah 53:6 - We all like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way, and the LORD has laid on him (Jesus) the iniquity of us all.
I John 1:8-9 - If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
STEP 2: Believe that Jesus died in your place, that his sacrifice covers your sin, and restores your relationship with God.
Nothing you could possibly do, could earn your salvation. Only the death of Jesus in your place, pays for your sin.
Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 5:8 - But God demonstrates his own love for us in this; while were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Titus 3:3-7 - At one time, we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by (sin) all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
Hebrews 9:27 - For it is appointed unto man once to die, and after this the judgment.
Revelation 20:12-15 - And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and the books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
Ephesians 2:8-9 - For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast.
John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:17-18 - For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son...
John 3:36 - Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him.
2 Corinthians 5:17 - Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things are passed away, behold all things are become new.
STEP 3:Committo letting God be the LORD of your life. By His strength - living your life as He directs.
Romans 10:9 - That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is LORD," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:10-11 - For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."
Matthew 7:21 - Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
I Corinthians 2:9 - However as it is written; "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.
John 14:15 - If you love me, you will obey what I command.
John 15:10 - If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.
Philippians 2:13 - For it is God who works in you, both to will and to act according to his good purpose.
Acts 1:8 - But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses (martyrs: living examples) in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
John 16:13-14 - But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
The Prayer of Salvation
The moment you 'confess with your mouth - "Jesus is LORD," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead.' is considered by many as the "prayer of salvation." It’s that moment you believe His Word, put your trust in God, are forgiven of your sins, and begin your new life in Christ.
In truth - the journey started long before that. When Jesus died on the cross, He was thinking of you - and the Holy Spirit of God has been leading you - your whole life to this moment where God changes you from the inside out, and begins a brand new life and relationship with Him.
The exact words of this prayer are not as important as the heart of repentance (or Godly sorrow) for your sin, your belief in Jesus' death on the cross in your place, and your commitment to live for him - as He gives you the strength and power to walk in newness of life.
God, I know I'm a sinner, and I'm sorry for sinning against you. I believe that Jesus died in my place to cover my sin, so I can live forever in heaven with you! Please forgive me, give me a clean heart, and help me obey you each day. I trust you to lead me by your Holy Spirit in this new life with you. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus Name, Amen.
God's Word teaches that when we repent (turn from) our sins, lay down our life, surrendering to His plans for us, we receive forgiveness of our sins through Jesus Christ, and are restored to right relationship with God making us holy in his sight. We can then live with Him for all of eternity in heaven.
But also we can now be filled with the Holy Spirit so we can understand the truths of His Word - the spiritual things we couldn't understand before! He can now lead us by His Holy Spirit into the unique and joyful purpose and plans He has for our life. We can now receive from him specific direction for each day and understand the daily difference between man's way - and GOD'S WAY of living - the life He has for you!

#2 Ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit – the Holy Spirit he promised which gives you power to live a new life!
John 16:13-14 - But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
Luke 11:13 - If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.
#3 Follow God’s instruction toget baptized in His Name. The common practice of new believers from the very beginning was to be water baptized (submerged in water) as a step of obedience in their new life in Christ, symbolizing being dead to sin, and alive to Christ. This act on your part will confirm you in your faith, and be a witness to others of the power of God in your life.
Acts 2:41 - Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
Acts 19:5 - On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.
