Love you all, praying for you.
I just love God’s Word. In a sentence, it’s God’s Way versus man’s way. The way that’s right, that’s best for you… versus the way that seems right or seems like the best at the time... Have you ever noticed how easy it is to get off track? Probably not. You don’t notice that you’re getting off track, until you are totally off-track… De-Railed. Things grind to a halt, you finally wake up and say, "Hey, something’s not right." Because getting off track is not a decision, it’s a drift. You don’t decide to get off track, you just decide not to track, to do something else at the time you usually do this… You neglect things, you don’t choose to refuse, you just don’t choose to continue, you choose something else instead… And before you know it, you’re off track. What is track anyway? Is it a restrictive imprisonment of some kind? No, it’s your groove – your sweet spot of life rhythm. The path God has for you. When you’re off track, it always goes back to a time thing. You are doing different things at the time you usually do the things that God had for you (Off-track). So how do you recover? How do you get back? First Purpose, then PiVAT, then Prayer, and then, Persistence. Start with Purpose. To get back on track… start with the bigger picture. What has God called me to do? There are things he has for everybody, and things He has for you. Talents, abilities and callings are different, but the broadest purpose is the same. To Know God (who created you and loves you), and make Him known, more specifically the Great Commission. If you’re off track with that, you aren’t fulfilled, just busy. To Know God is to worship Him, praise Him, put him as your time priority. Just like any relationship, no time… no relationship. Make Him known is simply share how good He is. But if you’re off-track – that means you’re not doing what He told you, when He told you to do it, so you don’t really have a testimony when you’re off-track. You’d rather not talk to people, because you don’t have the victories that you could be walking in, which is why you’d rather not talk about it. So How do you return? Four Simple Steps – simple, not easy. Purpose – Ask God again, what is the purpose you’ve called me to. How do you want me to live? Not only generally – what God has for everyone, but also, what does He have for you? If you’re an artist – it might be create great art, that draws people higher… Or if you’re a writer – write great story that draws people closer. Or if you’re a doctor – make people well. Or if you’re a lawyer – defend those who cannot defend themselves. Or if you’re a programmer – design stuff that makes peoples lives easier. For me God told me to disciple obedience through daily relationships. God showed me that the most enduring discipleship is – allow someone close enough to see how you obey. (Heb 3:13) Daily lives will be different – because you have different individual callings and purpose, but your obedience will look the same. Time, thoughts, money, so you have a Testimony – through what God specially assigned you to do. Bus Driver, Nurse, Teacher, Programmer. To do it with complete excellence. To get back on track – Go back to your Purpose. Then PiVAT – that 3 column day planner that God fills out, not you. If you’re ever going to get back on track, it starts with time, what has God assigned for you today, and when. The 3rd Step to get back on track. Prayer – you can’t do this on your own. You won’t even know what to do, if you don’t ask Him, much less the best way to do it… Which He definitely knows, and is just waiting to tell you. And pray in the Spirit, not just in English – Soak in His Word. PRISM is part of prayer – it’s the part of the conversation when He is speaking, not you. And finally – Persistence. Once you remember Purpose, what God has called you to, and why, And PiVAT – what God told you to do when. And Prayer – Talking with Him about it, to get his vision, his insight, the best way to do it, and His encouragement… Then it just comes down to persistence, persevering in that first step, then the second, and you are off and running again. It will definitely require humility, It will likely require repentance. You’re not robbing banks or murdering people, but less than His best, is still less than His best for you. Praying that you will recognize when you’re drifting, before you are totally off. Praying that you’ll just ask Him, that you would return through Purpose, PiVAT, Prayer, and Persistence, so you get back in the rhythm that brings you the greatest progress. Love you all, dad
